I have been an assistant prosecuting attorney in Detroit, MI for fifteen
years. I work for Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy in the Wayne County
Prosecutors Office. I am now the Director of the Prosecutor's Conviction
Integrity Unit. This Unit deals with unique issues relative to the closure of
the Detroit Police Crime Lab.

Previously I was assigned to the Felony Trial Division as a  trial
supervisor. I managed a team of seven assistant prosecuting attorneys
that covered five felony trial courtrooms.

I spent approximately eight years in the Homicide Unit specially assigned
to complex and high profile prosecutions.

I mention this to all my potential students. My visual trial skills have
helped carve out a niche in my profession. I've been asked to provide
litigation support on all of our office's most recent high profile cases
including the infamous "text message" scandal involving our former mayor
(People v. Kwame Kilpatrick and Christine Beatty). You too can learn
these skills and save your office time and money by becoming the
in-house visual trial expert.

Teaching

I also teach Litigation Technology and Advanced Trial Practice at the
University of Detroit Mercy Law School and the Thomas M. Cooley School
of Law, respectively.

I am a faculty member with the National District Attorneys Association and
the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan teaching courtroom
technology and trial advocacy around the country.

I also travel training different prosecutor's offices, lawyers and other law
enforcement agencies on the art of modern advocacy.

Heritage

I am proud to continue the legacy of law enforcement as my father,
Inspector Patrick H. Muscat (retired), proudly served the Detroit Police
Department for 36 years. He is also the author of the definitive history of
the Detroit Mounted Police. His book has been accepted at the
Smithsonian Institute.

My father now spends his time trading in coins, watches and police
memorabilia.  He is a licensed numismatist.
